Welcome!

My name is James Walsh and I offer counselling and psychotherapy in-person in Sutton Coldfield or online.

I am a UKCP registered Psychosynthesis psychotherapist and  I have Masters in Psychosynthesis Psychology from Middlesex University.  I am also a UKCP registered clinical supervisor and part of the faculty at The Institute of Psychosynthesis in London.

So, life.....what is it all about? We suffer in many ways and so what is the cause of our suffering?  At some level maybe we know. Maybe we are not living as fully as we could.  Not quite able to be authentic and really be who we are. Hiding our light is as painful and hiding the parts of us we don't like.  Hiding all of these parts of us causes suffering and it traps our will to create meaningful change in our lives.

I work with a wide variety of issues but I also consider what these issues might be pointing to. For example, it may be totally appropriate to feel depressed if we need to make changes to our life.

Here are some of the common themes I work with:

Anxiety, sometimes diagnosed as generalised anxiety disorder

Feeling sad and hopeless

Depression

Panic attacks

Loneliness and aloneness

Low self esteem and low self confidence

Negative thought patterns

Trust issues

Relationship difficulties and attachment issues

Family and cultural issues

Bereavement

Trauma and crisis

Desire for greater creative expression

Spiritual awakening, Kundalini awakening and issues around spirituality

Addiction

Lack of meaning or purpose in life, restlessness and a search for fulfillment

Struggles with life transitions, e.g. mid-life crisis, relationship breakdown

Issues around shame and/or guilt

Issues around abuse

Entering into therapy can seem hugely daunting. It can be an arduous journey, requiring commitment and courage, but it can also be joyful and change your life.  Symptoms we experience can be extremely painful, but can also be valuable insights into where we need to focus our efforts.  If you are experiencing difficulties, and you feel you are ready to take a first step into therapy, please get in touch and we can discuss the possibility of going on this journey together.
